How Many Republicans Who Voted Against Federal Health Care Refuse To Take Government Insurance For Themselves?

Filed in: Yahoo Answers for Health & Fat Loss by BK on 11-23-09

If Republicans truly believe that government could never run a good health care plan, should Republican members of Congress say “thanks, but no thanks” to the federal plan that each of them is already entitled to?
Shouldn’t these stalwart conservative legislators be refusing government-run healthcare for themselves?
Do any of them refuse to accept the government plan and buy private insurance? Who?

1) None. They may be hypocrites but they are not stupid hypocrites.
2) Yes, but then they would not be hypocrites.
3) This is getting redundant.
4) Past redundant and approaching tedious.

I’m not sure, but how many Democrats who have voiced support for “federal health care” have committed to participating in the public health care option?
If it is good enough for the rest of us, shouldn’t it be good enough for the Obama’s, the Reid’s, the Dodd’s, etc???
Also, keep in mind that accepting health insurance as a portion of a compensation package is quite a bit different than supporting policies that will lead to the destruction of private health insurance.

If my employer offers me a good health coverage plan, I’m not going to turn my nose up at it. The government is their employer and you have to think about it that way. I don’t agree with them getting such a great plan on taxpayers’ dime, but I’m not going to think any less of them for accepting the plan that their employer offers them.
On the other hand, if this new government health care system is supposed to be such a great improvement I would fully expect that all members of Congress will be jumping at the opportunity to get signed up for it.

You are uninformed.
The federal plan is private insurance. It is not a public/federal option.
They pick from private insurance companies.
Edit: You must be embarrassed about your question you sad liberal. Paul Ryan Talked about this on MSNBC and a lady asked this and he told her how it really it. Paul Ryan supports a bill that is similar to health care like theirs.

Probably the same number as the Democrats who declined to be exempt from the new plan.
The plan Congress has isn’t government run. Government just pays for it the same as most of our employers do.
100% of American legislators are doing what they can to prevent government-RUN health care for ALL of us.

I do… I am eligible for Tricare as a military retiree… I opted for the insurance provided by my employer because it is better. You can believe that most of them do have some private insurance or supplements…. just wondering… why would you want them to deny them some of the benefits of thier job? Would you say “I don’t think that it’s fair that I get four weeks vacation while a new guy only gets two, so I don’t want those other two weeks”?

You see you have a flawed premise because they are not on a government plan, they have private health care insurance paid for by the government.
They are two very different things.

Are the democrat congressmen hypocrites for not wanting to be on the federal health care plan that they are creating for everyone else?
Nice try!
